Current Goals

The Woodstock Pickleball Association sent a delegation to the Woodstock Recreational Advisory Committee to advocate for the sport of pickleball. The meeting went very well and we are confident that we will see 8 outdoor courts being constructed at Cowan Fields in the spring of 2025.

Benefits of Pickleball in a Community

Its rapid growth is fueled by its accessibility and social nature, drawing players of all ages and skill levels. Strong community engagement compared to other sports. Unlike more physically demanding sports, pickleball’s smaller court and emphasis on doubles play make it less strenuous, attracting older players and fostering intergenerational participation. The sport’s open play format encourages social interaction, allowing players to mix and match easily, which enhances community bonds. Pickleball offers an enjoyable way to stay active with lower physical impact than tennis, making it suitable for people who may have concerns about joint strain or intense cardiovascular exertion. Additionally, the strategic nature of pickleball provides mental stimulation, promoting cognitive health and keeping players engaged without the physical demands that tennis requires.
